Aarhus – Human Rights Law

Description

SELS Aarhus on Human Rights Law will take place from July 28 - August 04, 2024. We welcome our participants to Jutland's cultural heart, Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city and an exuberant university town.

The week will be filled with lectures held by experts in the field of Human Rights Law, which will cover its different aspects. The lectures will have a general introduction to the subtopics but will also include real-life cases that the experts have worked with from their respective professional angles. This will give an insight into future career possibilities after university and how Human Rights Law can become a part of your future work life! In addition to the lectures, our SELS will also consist of workshops, where the knowledge gained will be practised through problem-solving in smaller groups and having larger group discussions.

Besides an interesting academic programme, you will also see Aarhus’s culture and nature. We are also going on a walking tour to delve into the fascinating history of Denmark’s second-largest city, where we will spot city landmarks across the cobbled streets of Aarhus filled with cafés and restaurants. We will also take a trip to the beach to experience Danish hygge. We promise to show you a “hyggelig” time! But most importantly, we hope you feel comfortable with each other. That is why we have arranged some team-building activities so that you can get to know each other. These activities will unfold on and off campus to familiarise the participants with our on-campus sights and the city’s surrounding parks.

We hope the enriching Academic and exciting Social Programmes will make your experience at our SELS one you won't forget.

We have created a fascinating Academic Programme that will capture your attention and spark your interest in Human Rights Law. Our main Academic Partner, Aarhus University, will be providing the location of our SELS, and the Academic Programme will start with a general introductory lecture about “Human Rights Law”. The rest of the week will be filled with interesting lectures covering different aspects of Human Rights Law, held by experts ranging from lawyers to an Amnesty International representative. Participants will also have the opportunity to put what they learned into practice through workshops that will give them an opportunity to discuss, reflect, and interact with what has been taught in the lectures.
