4th consecutive year – The 4th edition of the ELSA Greece Summer Law School on "Maritime Law" focuses on the current legal issues in the field of Shipping Finance. Knowledge of this field is the key factor in understanding the complexities of the seaborne trade. 

Given that the commerce of the world is principally carried in ships, Maritime Law and especially Shipping Finance is a challenging international field for legal scientists, that enables them to acquire practical financial management skills, in order to consider rewarding career opportunities in the global investment, banking and securities markets.

Our high-quality and intensive academic programme is a combination of distinguished speakers and specialized workshops, which will offer the participants an in-depth understanding of how the shipping and financial markets interact, by focusing on the analysis of shipping companies publicly listed on international stock exchanges, initial public offerings (IPOs), trading and corporate transactions in shipping markets, the assessment of risk management strategies, maritime trade patterns and commodities carried by sea, chartering and ship-broking practices.

Based in Athens, the capital and the largest city of Greece, the birthplace of democracy, the center of arts and the cradle of the Western civilization you will be amazed by the combination of Classical, Neoclassical and Modern architecture.

Glancing at the remnants of the past through guided tours you will discover the heritage of Greece being depicted on the epitomy of glory of ancient Greece, the Parthenon of Acropolis. You will have the chance to visit the Areios Pagos, the most ancient law court of the world, as longs as remarkable museums with ancient, byzantine, roman and contemporary works of art and wander around Plaka and Monastiraki, the most picturesque quarters of Athens with narrow streets, traditional, busy neighborhoods and small, classical buildings, where you will experience the traditional Greek cuisine with fresh national dishes, accompanied by ingredients of Greek hospitality, generosity and courtesy.
