Uppsala – Arbitration Law

Description

ELSA Uppsala is pleased to announce its Summer ELSA Law School on Arbitration, which will take place between August 18- 25, 2024. The event will take place in Uppsala, one of the oldest cities in Sweden, located an hour outside Stockholm. Known for its beautiful nature, Uppsala boasts a river running through the city. It is also home to the oldest University in Scandinavia and one of the oldest in Europe, fostering a rich tradition of student life.

With 13 student nations offering opportunities for affordable drinks, clubbing, lunches, and study sessions at their libraries, Uppsala maintains a vibrant student culture. Despite its small-town charm, the city offers a wide array of shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Uppsala Castle, built in 16th-century Renaissance architectural style, stands in the city's heart.

SELS Uppsala will provide Participants with the opportunity to study Arbitration Law, exploring alternative dispute resolution methods to court proceedings in both Swedish and international business contexts. Through lectures led by professors and lawyers, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of arbitration and mediation processes. The week concludes with a mock trial and a visit to the SCC Arbitration Institute in Stockholm.

ELSA Uppsala has prepared a Social & Cultural Programme to immerse Participants in Swedish culture and history and have them experience the full spectrum of student life, including bar hopping and national events. From visits to museums, a day in Stockholm and the chance to experience Swedish traditions, Participants will get to know each other and enjoy Sweden in the summer. The week culminates in a traditional Gala Ball, offering a memorable ending to your time in Uppsala.
