WELS Split on Humanitarian Law and Human Rights

Description

We, here at ELSA Split, are happy to present our fifth edition of Winter ELSA Law School Split on Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. This immersive educational programme takes place during the period between March 02 - 09, 2025,  in the second largest city in Croatia, Split. Our goal is to provide participants with a deeper understanding of Humanitarian Law and Human Rights within the context of Croatia and the broader international community.

The reason why we picked this, now traditional topic, is the fact that Croatia has experienced a war for freedom and independence in modern times. Our lecturers have lived through and acted in this conflict so they will offer you the best insight into establishing law and protecting human rights during difficult periods. In the field in which we are, it is important to familiarise ourselves with this topic, which is unfortunately still very relevant. Not only is this a great opportunity to gain knowledge about an important subject, but also a great opportunity to meet people from all over Europe. We have prepared fun and competitive activities for our Social Programme, such as: laser tag, pub quiz, karaoke, national drinks night and themed parties. As an optional trip we have organised a visit to the national park of Krka, famous for it's waterfalls.

Split is one of the most unique cities in the world. It was founded within the ruins of once a Roman palace, built in the 4th century for emperor Diocletian. In 1979, the historic center of Split was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. If you easily get tired of cold weather, our Winter ELSA Law School is perfect for you. On average, Split receives 2600 sunshine hours annually with the average temperature of 18°C in March. That gives us a chance to enjoy in some sun on our beautiful beaches and park forest Marjan!
