Continuing our tradition, ELSA Athens is delighted to present to you our 9th edition of the Summer ELSA Law School Athens on International Investment Law! The event will take place in the heart of the summer, from July 14 - 21, 2024, and for yet another year, in the centre of Athens.
Athens combines a rich historical background with contemporary urban scenery in a unique way, and it is the ideal place for you to broaden both your legal and personal horizons. You should expect to enjoy the Greek sunlight and the vibrant rhythm of life in the capital!
The advanced Academic Programme of our SELS focuses on deepening the Participants’ knowledge in the field of International Investment Law, one of the fastest-developing areas of Public International Law. The historical central building of the University of Athens will be the meeting point for distinguished professors, legal experts and students from diverse backgrounds who wish to discuss and enrich their legal knowledge on a wide range of carefully selected sub-topics of International Investment Law.
Through our Social and Cultural Programme, you will have the chance to immerse yourselves in Athens’ cultural legacy and experience the Greek “philoxenia” (hospitality), which literally translates to “love of the foreign”. We guarantee that you are going to love our traditional local cuisine and the night life of a city that never sleeps. The Summer Law School Athens on International Investment Law has been co-organised annually, since 2016, by ELSA Athens and the Athens Public International Law Center (Athens PIL) of the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a view to provide participating students from all over the world with a comprehensive understanding of International Investment Law, as well as the capacity to locate and compare the various approaches taken by arbitral tribunals and understand the different aspects and controversies of the discipline.
This year’s edition will consist of 6 days of interactive lectures and workshops to provide participants with all the essential tools to grasp the key aspects of International Investment Law while also addressing some of the currently “hottest topics” of the field. In this respect, renowned scholars and practitioners will guide participants through the fascinating universe of International Investment Law. At the same time, a skills training workshop will further enhance the educational objectives of the project.
