Turin and Pollenzo – Food Law & Sustainability

Description

ELSA Turin is delighted to present the third edition of its Summer ELSA Law School on Food Law & Sustainability, which will take place between Turin and Pollenzo from July 21 - 28, 2024.

Maintaining the same solid framework as the previous ones, for this year’s edition we tried to increase the quality standards of the project, implementing and enriching the Academic, Cultural and Social Programmes. Among important confirmations of partners such as the University of Turin, the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Eataly, Fontanafredda and Lavazza, we have added new significant collaborations with law firms and companies in the industry aimed at exploring new issues that have become relevant in today’s world.

As for us, we chose the topic 'Food Law & Sustainability', not only because the subject in itself is extremely interesting and potentially critical for our personal and professional future, but above all to have the opportunity to promote our territory,  Piedmont, Italy’s second-largest region, where elegance and flavour intertwine like a perfect dance. During their stay, Participants will explore 4 cities, three vineyards, and two universities under one motto: eat, travel and indulge like a local!

Indeed, Piedmont is more than just a place; it’s a symphony of Slow Food and fine wine, where regal palazzi stand tall against the backdrop of rolling vineyards. Imagine strolling through Turin’s historic streets, sipping espresso in centuries-old cafés, and gazing up at the iconic Mole Antonelliana, home to the Cinema Museum. And then there’s the Langhe region, a UNESCO Heritage site, where Pollenzo is located – a poetic landscape where vineyards drape themselves over hills like velvet cloaks. Here, the air smells of truffles, and the sun kisses the grapevines. Picture yourself savouring a glass of Barolo, the king of wines, after an intense day of lectures, together with students and young professionals from all over the world, overlooking the undulating countryside. It’s a taste of heaven, a sip of history, and an invitation to slow down and savor life.

Experience the thrill of learning while embracing the world beyond textbooks. Welcome to a summer of discovery!

A week of multidisciplinary training enriched by hands-on experiences and “learn by doing” activities.  Our goal is not only to delve into legal and regulatory profiles but also to explore issues of great relevance to our future, such as sustainability in the agrifood supply chain and the circular economy.
