This WELS will take place in Komotini, a city nestled in the heart of northern Greece, where cultures meet and blend with the vibrant student life. WELS Komotini offers the unique opportunity to delve into Refugee and Migration Law. Our winter programme is structured to provide you with a real insight into one of the most pressing global challenges, tackling various aspects of migration and refugee policy, asylum seeking and international legal support. The aim of the academic programme is to foster critical thinking and cultivate social sensitivity by deepening the participants’ legal prospective through interactive workshops, lectures and discussions with distinguished academics and practitioners. Komotini is a city that bridges East and West, a perfect example of the cultural exchange and migration phenomenon.

Our main Academic Partner, Krateros Ioannou Research Institute for International Law and Relations, will provide you with different approaches to Refugee and Migration Law. The programme will include lectures that will deepen your knowledge on various fields of the topic, starting with a general introduction of its basic principles and the international legal status of Migrants and Refugees. The lectures and workshops will also focus on the European asylum Framework, integration policies, the protection of refugees and the general societal approach. Last but not least there will be an Institutional Visit at the Reception and Identification Centre (R.I.C) at Fylakio, Evros.
