Description

ELSA Portucalense is proud to announce the sixth edition of its Winter ELSA Law School on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, which will take place from February 01 to 08, 2026.

This edition of WELS offers a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law in a city renowned for its resilience and strong sense of community, qualities that perfectly reflect the very principles these fields of law seek to protect.

The academic programme will be fully dedicated to Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, in line with ELSA’s vision of "a just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity". At a time when these issues are more pressing than ever, participants will benefit from engaging sessions led by dynamic and highly qualified speakers, combining theoretical insight with practical perspectives to ensure an enriching and inspiring academic journey.

Complementing the academic dimension, the social and cultural programme has been meticulously arranged to immerse participants in the authentic Portuguese spirit. From tasting the traditional Francesinha to enjoying the iconic “seven bridges” boat tour, and from discovering Porto’s student traditions to exploring its most vibrant corners, participants will experience a diverse range of activities that blend culture, entertainment and community. Accommodation will be provided in a centrally located hostel, ensuring easy access to the city’s main attractions and further enhancing the overall experience.

The programme will conclude with a memorable Gala Ball, offering participants the chance to celebrate its successful completion in an elegant and festive atmosphere, so don’t forget to bring your best outfit!

Balancing rigorous academic sessions with cultural exploration and social connection, this year’s Law School promises to be an unforgettable experience that combines learning with friendship, tradition and celebration.

That being said, the adventure is calling! Join us at WELS 2026 and let’s create unforgettable memories together!
